The more connected we become, the further apart people seem to drift. Online, there is no way to know who someone really is or what they actually want. Professionals with demanding careers have little time to spend in that kind of uncertainty — and being introduced by friends and family carries its own awkwardness when the match does not work out.

A properly arranged introduction solves both problems. You know from the first meeting who the other person genuinely is and what they are looking for. And each introduction teaches you something about yourself and about being with someone.

After returning to Taiwan in 2011, I joined several friends with established careers to build something in an industry we cared about, acquiring well-regarded matchmaking agencies along the way so that the service could be broader and less formulaic than the dating most people are used to.

Our philosophy is simple: a real, physical matchmaking service of genuinely high standard, at a fair price — the place professionals think of first when they are ready to look for a partner.

Because every one of us already has a stable business behind them, we are free to run 17MARRY the way we believe it should be run. We are not trying to be the largest. We would rather be the best. That is why membership has a threshold: we review appearance, financial stability and character before accepting anyone, so that we can properly search and screen on our members' behalf.

17MARRY members hold legitimate professional positions and have stable incomes. They are, by and large, mature and settled people who know exactly why they are here — to find someone to build a life with.

We place real weight on meeting you in person at our office. That conversation is how you come to understand how we work, and how we come to understand who you are, what your background genuinely is, and what you are looking for. Because so much of a first meeting rests on first impressions, our certified stylist offers complimentary guidance on presentation beforehand. We are a licensed agency, we issue official invoices, and we retain professional legal counsel — the agreement we sign protects both of us.

Our team includes relationship consultants with deep professional experience who can see quickly where a member is getting stuck, and a senior matchmaking secretary with fifteen years of experience who reviews every candidate. Because our members are of a comparable standard, the match rate is high — and a great many of them come to us on the recommendation of someone we have already introduced. Over the years we have brought together many couples who are now building happy lives together. That is the part of this work that means the most to us.
